Lawyer Kady does not just perform in court!

Lou Kady won't be wearing his usual tux when he hits the stage at Manasquan Beach on July 12.  Mr. Kady, who will be performing his Frank Sinatra tribute concert at 7:30 p.m., said singing on the beach requires a different outfit than a lounge would.  "I don't think it will lend itself to that venue," the 65-year-old said.

Tux or no tux, the Holmdel resident will still be singing, and that's good enough for him.  "Singing is a lot of fun," he said.  And perhaps what makes Mr. Kady so different than other lounge singers is that he also holds another job where performance is of the utmost importance.

You see, Mr. Kady is also an attorney in Carteret.

But he does not see much difference in the two occupations.  Both jobs require a message to get across to other people from the mouth of Mr. Kady.  The way he sees it, a jury is an audience and vice versa.  Mr. Kady insists he handles both jobs very professionally.  "I wonder if people are going to take me seriously as an attorney if they see me as a lounge singer," he said, adding that his colleagues seem to enjoy his singing.

Mr. Kady is currently working with Pete Korey and his 17-piece band to produce a "big-band sound."  The concert is one of many sponsored by the Manasquan Tourism commission at the beach this summer.  According to Tourism Commission Chairman Ray Summers, the commission's goal is to provide family entertainment for residents and tourists to the borough.  Mr. Kady, who spent a few summers in Manasquan when he was younger, said he has a great affinity for the borough.  "I've spent a lot of time in Manasquan," he said.  "The setting is very good."

In the past, Mr. Kady has performed at numerous venues including the Holiday Inn of Carteret, The Stone Pony, the Dinner Cruise Ship Cornucopia Princess and Carnival Cruise Line's M.S. Ecstasy.  He has also appeared in the Carteret Park Concert Series and Carteret Ethnic Day.

The Pete Korey 17-piece band includes professional musicians who have performed with The Nelson Riddle Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Tony Bennett and Margaret Whiting.

Mr. Kady has been married to wife Janice for 39 years.  They have 3 sons:  Louis, 38; Kevin, 36 and Christopher, 32.
